Background: Pooei was found barely alive on an abandoned cargo vessel in the northern M86 Galaxy. Morf brought Pooei back to a stable level and is not limited to a captive holding grounds, in fact Pooei is free to wander the Zoo as it pleases. Morf insist on visitors not feeding it bodega scraps.
Species Name: Radith Jackalhound
Type: Quadrupedal Hybrid
Origin: Mainly found on the desert planet Radith
Intelligence Level: Medium (comparable to a clever half-breed adolescent)
Temperament: Curious, loyal, lazy except when wanting something. They travel in small packs of 3 to 5, led by a “Listener” (the one with the most acute hearing).
Can form extremely strong bonds—once bonded to a person or creature, it will defend them to the death.
Physical Appearance: Height: 2.5–3 feet at shoulder Length: Up to 5 feet Weight: 40–70 lbs Pooei’s fur is fine, dust-resistant coat that shifts color slightly with environment from tan to ash gray. Pooei’s ears are large, split-lobed ears capable of rotating independently to detect frequencies up to 200 kHz. Forward-facing, eyes that can reflective amber or cyan; adapted for night hunting. A medium tail used for signaling and balance.
Skills and Abilities:
Can switch between bounding and silent stalking. Pooei can emit low-frequency throat pulses that bounce off terrain—used for navigation and silent pack communication. When threatened, their fur stiffens and emits a faint static charge, making them harder to grab and slightly distorting their outline in low light. The Jackalhound can also detect heartbeats through sand up to 30 feet away. Explosive hind-leg power allows vertical leaps up to 12 feet. Their nose can detect heat signatures even after prey has passed. Weakness: Sensitive to sonic frequency attacks Fur charge ability drains energy quickly and will overheat in humid environments.
Diet and Habitat: They eat small desert creatures, burrowers, insectoids, mineral-rich plants. Pooei is now consuming half-breed scraps. Environment: Harsh deserts, canyon systems, and wind-swept plains. They mainly shelter into cliff faces or beneath rock shelves.
