Just Like Daddy

Just Like Daddy

Character Description

Ralph’s dog Max is a lovable spunky dog. He likes getting his belly rubbed and also likes getting stoned with his owner Ralph. He is not too fond of Harriet, Ralph’s wife’s cat, but puts up with her because it makes Ralph score brownie points with Samantha his wife. Max has developed a bad habit of chewing up socks if there left on the floor. Samantha thinks it because Ralph gets his dog stoned all the time.

Ralph: I suddenly subscribed to the fact that patient zero was clearly not making any sign of recovery after being subjected to the administered treatment I have given it. I also thought it might have been too early to see signs of change considering how experimental this anecdote was. Therefore, in conclusion, the patient remained in a state of perpetual cognitive dissonance.

On the surface, physical attributes remained normal to the naked eye, but on further inspection, one could see slight behavioral habits that were destructive if evolved over a lengthy time period. Change needed to happen sooner than later and time was a reaper carrying many infections and very few cures.

Patients symptoms… Speech impeded slightly, a repetition of telling the same story using the same word. Spontaneous outburst to the point of physical aggression has been steadily increasing.

He didn’t show any type of drugs in his system besides the medicine I have given him. The neurological function is deteriorating slightly… maybe a side effect of the medicine?

Was he exposed to an unknown toxin that he might have inhaled… hmm

The patient seems to not want to listen and is having a hard time being still…
Max, please sit. Sit down Max and calm yourself. The other doctor will be in shortly.

If this disease spreads it could ruin Neon City… The number one tourist destination in the world. My god, could you imagine? Max what did you do… The information the Feds were giving me was vague. Patient zero was traveling back from overseas, an eastern country when he started showing signs of mental strain on the jetliner he was on at the time. According to one TSA agent, he tried to bite his leg off in a fit of rage which the outburst lasted a couple of seconds, and then he was stable like it never happened.

Patient zero has no mental health history. It seems to be in perfect health physically. One thing we are looking further into is the patient does have an acute ear infection, but nothing out of the ordinary. Although when I tried to give him a liquid medicine for his ear I and another doctor had to hold him down, I think that is connected to the neurological damage the brain has received from this unknown source… or was something ingested that shouldn’t have been?

Max…?

We sent his diagnosis to some specialists and are waiting on the results. When I try to comfort the patient he seems to look dazed and I believe fatigued, with spontaneous motion or like he is lost in a repeated direction…

One thing is certain the patient although hydrated can not seem to get enough water when given to him.

If my experience has taught me anything is that always be prepared for the unexpected.

I try not to get too involved with the psychology of my understanding of what patient zero could be going through his mind to simulate such bizarre actions, but the world we live in is full of bizarre situations. And Max is not indifferent to infection.

My instinct was telling me that patient zero would have to be quarantined until this unknown psychosis passed. As I steadily observed the patient I noticed deep inside his eyes he was trying to connect with me. To be human. Max… Max! Come here.

(Another doctor opens the door and walks in.)

“Hi, Mr. Tennerman… Max, your dog is going to be alright. You just got to let it pass through his system. And stop getting your dog high Mr. Tennerman. And always put away your cannabis when you are done using it. That was a lot of marijuana for a dog that size to eat.” Doctor Lee says.

I know… I know it’s just we came back from a long trip and he was all wound up so I figured he would be just fine… I blew a couple of big puffs in his face when I smoked. I left my stash out on the table. I was jet-lagged and passed out after a got high Doctor Lee.

My wife already gave me the third degree. I apologize. It won’t ever happen again.

“Ok… I will be right back with Max’s prescription” the vet says.

(Doctor leaves)

Patient zero the results came back and it seems as though you will recover. The Neon City will be safe for now. You will start becoming increasingly hungry I’m assuming. In which I have the perfect solution. Upon your arrival at your home, a big tasty meal awaits to feed your zombie-like hunger. I know. It’s gonna be ok buddy.

Max just know that you are loved and will be taken care of.

Who’s a good boy… Are you good boy Max… Yes, you are! A stoner just like daddy.
